For over 30 years, Altium has been devoted to transforming the PCB industry by bringing sophisticated technology to the masses. With Altium Designer 17 and Vault 3.0, we’re furthering our commitment to developing innovative technologies like ActiveRoute and extending data management capabilities while simplifying the user experience.

As a technology company, we constantly survey industry trends and decipher how they affect users and apply to our products. This includes the evaluation of licensing, packaging, and pricing to ensure they align with our mission, industry, and most importantly our customers. Most recently, we’ve determined that Altium Vault packaging and pricing does not correspond with our goals and introduces architectural challenges based on future functionality and product direction. As a result, the following changes will be made effective November 16, 2016:

• There will be one license/product package available (Altium Vault) that will include all current and future Vault functionality. All other Vault packages will be discontinued.
• All Vault licensing types will be consolidated to time-based to match CAL (client access license).
• Pricing for Vault Server Subscription is $2,495 per year, $495 a CAL per year (Firebird), and $995 a CAL per year (Oracle).

For 80% of our current Vault customers, pricing will be reduced with much greater functionality. Workgroup and Enterprise Vault users will benefit from a cost savings. In the case of Component Vault owners, the new pricing increases your monetary investment, but provides you with the full functionality that Vault has to offer.

We understand any change can be stressful, especially those that have budgetary impact. In an effort to ease the transition Altium will provide a one-year grace period. This will allow all Component Vault owners, upon expiration, the ability to renew their server and CAL subscriptions at the current pricing. To be clear, this will provide you with the full Vault technology for a year at the Component level pricing you are paying now! It will be our job to ensure the additional technology value meets your expectations over the course of the year to secure your renewal as an ongoing Vault customer.
