Join us for a week of virtual workshops to explore the unique capabilities that power the easiest, most powerful, and most connected PCB design experience. Using a 2-week Altium Designer eval or existing license, you will receive a hands-on learning experience as you are guided through real-life projects focused on key areas of the design process.
This is a limited and free series that you won’t want to miss!
Workshop Schedule
Centralized Collaborative Library Management
EU: 2 PM CET
Do you currently use a local file based library? Learn how much time you can save by switching to a centralized collaborative library.
In this workshop we will cover how to easily find components through attributes search and filters. We’ll cover what to do if we don’t have the component in our library, and how we can quickly create new components in 3 different ways. We are also going to talk about the Version Control System and how to compare different component revisions. Lastly, we will use the ActiveBom checks to validate all the components used in a design to prevent project delays due to components being obsolete, outdated, or out of stock through suppliers.
Easy SPICE Simulation
EU: 2 PM CET
Do you send your board to manufacturing without simulating the circuit first? Or if you do run simulations, are you having to switch between different tools and environments than the one you design your PCB?
Learn how easy SPICE simulation can be with the new AD21 simulation engine and user interface. In this live workshop, we will go through the steps of setting up a schematic design by adding simulation models to all components, a source and a couple of probes. We’ll also discuss what model formats are accepted by the tool and where to find them. Lastly, we will run a few different analyses such as Operating Point, DC Sweep, Transient and AC Sweep - inspecting the final results together.
Board Shape in The Context of The Enclosure
EU: 2 PM CET
Do you currently switch back and forth in your ECAD and MCAD views? Do you ever wonder if there’s an easier way to co-design, or upgrade collaborative activities between electrical and mechanical engineers to synchronize designs?
Learn about the possible ECAD x MCAD collaboration options and how Altium CoDesigner can make the integration seamless and keep both domains constantly in-sync. We will go over step-by-step how to create a board shape in the context of the mechanical enclosure including the positioning of mounting holes or board cutouts, the transferring of silkscreen and copper, as well as the placing of components from both MCAD and ECAD sides.
Designing a Multi-board System
EU: 2 PM CET
Do you still design your multiboard systems separately? Keeping track of all interconnections through a spreadsheet and relying on all engineers involved to keep updating it on every pin swap?
Learn how Altium can help you keep track of all system interconnections and whole system assembly. We’ll discuss the main challenges of designing a multiboard system and we’ll go over the creation of a new complete multiboard system project from scratch, including a multiboard schematic and multiboard assembly. In the end we review how to make changes to the system so that they resonate in the child design as well.
Communicating Design Intent With Manufacturers
EU: 2 PM CET
Do you ever wish there was an easier and faster way to communicate designs with your manufacturers?
Learn how to create dynamic documentation including assembly and fabrication views, detailed and section views, layer stack up, drill drawings and table, dimensions, callouts, notes and more. We will set up templates to save us time when creating documentation and talk about project outputs and how consistent and automated the OutputJob files can make the entire documentation package generation process. Lastly, we will go over the project release process and see how to efficiently communicate it with your fabricators through your workspace.
