Migration to Altium Designer on the example of an eagle data set

Changing old habits is always challenging. Even if you know you could do better. The same is valid if you think of moving from one PCB design tool to another one. You do not only have to learn a new environment but you have to think about your old designs and how to get a component library as a basis for your future designs.

Even if it is clear that you have to leave your familiar and possibly cherished design environment because it is required to be compatible with partners and customers or the old tool no longer meets today's requirements, there are two major hurdles: getting used to the new tool and the transfer of existing IP to the new world. The easier it is to master the two challenges, the easier it is for the 'transition project' to be integrated into the often well-filled development calendar.

    • How to use the Import Wizard being integrated in Altium Designer
    • How to review and potentially fix the imported design data
